Communities and Justice

About us

The Law Courts Library provides services to all courts in the Law Courts Building: the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, and the Supreme Court of NSW. It is the only joint library of its type in Australia. Separate Federal Court and Supreme Court libraries are maintained in other states.

Collections which serve the Land and Environment Court,  District Court, and Local Court can also be accessed through the Law Courts Library.

The Law Courts Library is the major law resource for judicial officers in New South Wales and is administered by the Library Services unit within the Department of Communities and Justice.

Library Services provide legal literature and a comprehensive reference and research service to assist the judiciary and court staff in the administration of justice. Services are also provided to departmental staff.
